Multilanguage PrestaShop Experience
PrestaShop has everything you want to make a multilingual worldwide store (support for multiple currencies and taxes). Platforms like Wix or Shopify do not offer this wide range of features, so PrestaShop is the best one in such terms.
I have worked with worldwide stores, so this article will be about setting up one and will share best practices from my experience.
Is Multilingual PrestaShop Store Better For SEO
The multilingual store can give you some SEO boost, but there are a few things you have to do first.
If your primary language is English, ten having other languages on your store (f.e. French, Spanish) won’t make any SEO boosts for your English store. That’s because google treats languages as almost separate projects, even all your languages are on one domain.
Every page for every language should have a unique URL. Fortunately, PrestaShop won’t allow you to have multiple languages on one URL.
I do not have just a few pages for some languages. If you translated only 30-50% of your store - drop language entirely as it will even hurt your SEO rankings for that page. Usually English language performs the best, but all other languages will rank well only if Google considers many topics are translated into your page.
How to Enable Languages In PrestaShop
Add new language in PrestaShop back office by going to International → Translations → Add / Update a language section. By selecting a new language and clicking the “Add or update a language” button below.

After submit button, you will start seeing new language in all language inputs like in the Modify translations section. This is the section where you can apply your customizations to your language pack.

There is a section Export a language that you can use to customize your translations to another PrestaShop store. It rarely used feature, but it might still be helpful.

How To Customize Taxes In Prestashop
You can customize various tax settings by going to PrestaShop back office → International → Taxes.
In this list, you will find a massive list of absolute tax values in the most common places. Most likely, PrestaShop will have everything you need to handle taxes properly.
There are a tab Tax Rules for more complex situations.

Conclusion
PrestaShop is the perfect ecommerce solution with dozen of customizations you can apply. So be sure to check our blog for more!
