Managing Suppliers And Brands In PrestaShop Store

Managing Suppliers And Brands In PrestaShop Store

Stock in the PrestaShop store could be managed by using the Brands or Suppliers feature. However, it is essential not to confuse both.

If you are making all the products in PrestaShop by yourself or selling digital goods, you don’t need Suppliers or Brands at all.

But if you have products coming from other vendors - PrestaShop will cover you with all the warehouse features you need.

Brands & Suppliers - What’s The Difference In Prestashop

Brands were called Manufacturers in the earlier PrestaShop version. But nothing except the naming changed between versions. So you can still use translations to rename Brands to Manufacturer if you want.

Think about Brands like folders where you put products. Your customers will be able to browse an entire brand catalog if they want.

Suppliers are companies that directly supply you with products.

PrestaShop, in their documentation, gives wage description, but here is how to treat each type:

  • Brands are public, and you will display them for your customers.
  • Suppliers are for your warehouse, which you keep for yourself.

How to Manage Brands In PrestaShop

In the back office -> Catalog -> Brands & Suppliers page, you will see the Brands tab.

When adding information to Brands - keep in mind that this information is public to everyone. Therefore, do not use any jargon or impolite descriptions.

When brands are saved, you will be able to use them in your product edit page, which you can find in the back office -> Catalog -> Products.

Be sure to enable suppliers when creating them - this is something commonly forgotten when creating them.

Your suppliers will be available on the product edit page (back office -> Catalog -> Products -> edit any product) in the Options tab block called Suppliers. There you can enter supplier price and supplier reference for a particular product variation.
