Managing Multiple Stores With PrestaShop

One of the most outstanding features in PrestaShop is called Multistore. With this feature, you can manage multiple stores (domains or subdomains) in a single PrestaShop setup.

You can even share some of the content between your stores easily.

In this article, I will show you how to enable multi-store and also will expound on the following:

How To Enable Multistore In PrestaShop

To enable the Multistore feature in PrestaShop, log into the back office and click Shop Parameters → General. In the opened page, toggle the checkbox Enable Multistore to YES.

After you do this, an additional menu element will appear in your back office sidebar. A new menu item will also appear under Advanced parameters → Multistore.

You will see the Default store entry on this page – that’s your current store. However, you might still want to check the edit page of this store as it has some neat options on it.

Share customers might be helpful if your store is a brand shop where customers might know about other locations of your store. But if you have two different shop types (one is about clothes, and another is about tech gadgets) – do not enable this checkbox as this data is private and can’t be shared.

Share available quantities to sell is an excellent option for tech stores. I have been managing stores that have multiple warehouses. Still, products have quantities that should be shared across numerous Multistore shops.

Share orders – most likely, you don’t want this option enabled as this is private information. Only allow this option if you share customers and quantities. Your entire multistore business is local (in the same country, for example).

Why Disable Multistore Feature In PrestaShop

If you do not use this feature, it would be best to disable it altogether.

This way, your back office will run a little bit faster, and you won’t see store selection options in almost all edit forms.
